26 Suspects Arrested, N930,000 Counterfeit Notes Recovered, As Police Raid Criminal Hideouts in Eti-Osa, Lagos
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have smashed a criminal gang involved in the printing and circulation of fake currencies, and arrested twenty-six suspects.
The suspects were arrested during a raid of criminal hideouts in the Lekki, Eti-Osa axis by men of the Lagos State Task Force, also known as Kick Against Indiscipline.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent ABIMBOLA ADEBISI, said Nine Hundred and Fifty-One Thousand, Three Hundred Naira of counterfeit currency, in one thousand naira and five-hundred-naira notes, were recovered from the criminals.
SP ADEBISI said further investigations revealed that four other suspects, identified as ABUBAKAR RILEAN, ABUBAKAR ABDULLAHI, ADAMU IBRAHIM JORA and MICHAEL JOHN; who are between the ages of thirty and forty, were also arrested for alleged production and distribution of adulterated engine oil and diesel.
The PPRO said the gang members sold the adulterated petroleum products to unsuspecting motorists through two other suspects, identified as thirty-year-old ICHAPI MOSES and twenty-eight-year-old SAMSON ADIKE.
Following the development, the police spokeswoman said the Commissioner of Police, OLOHUNDARE JIMOH, assured that the Command has intensified efforts against perpetrators of crime in Lagos State.
