FG CELEBRATES, AS FINNISH COURT JAILS IPOB'S SIMON EKPA SIX YEARS FOR TERRORISM IN SOUTH-EAST NIGERIA
Self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, SIMON EKPA, has been sentenced to six years in prison in faraway Finland where he lives.
The Päijät-Häme District Court in Finland convicted SIMON EKPA for inciting terrorism and participating in the activities in the South-East region of Nigeria between August 2021 and November 2024.
A Finnish newspaper reports that the court also found EKPA guilty of aggravated tax fraud in a ruling delivered earlier today, Monday, September 1, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has welcomed the conviction of SIMON EKPA for acts of terrorism in Nigeria by a court in faraway Finland.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, MOHAMMED IDRIS, said the court judgment against the IPOB leader marks a major victory for Nigerians in the fight against terrorism.
Recall that EKPA – the self-styled prime minister of the Republic of Biafra in Exile – was arrested by Finnish authorities in December, 2024, for spreading separatist propaganda and inciting violence through social media.
