Court Upholds Bench Warrant Against Fmr Humanitarian Minister, SADIYA UMAR FAROUK
Justice JUDE ONWUEGBUZIE of the Hight Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has dismissed an application by former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, SADIYA UMAR FAROUQ, seeking the setting aside the bench warrant and warrant of arrest issued against her.
SADIYA UMAR FAROUQ is facing prosecution by the EFCC, alongside BASHIR NURA ALKALI and SANI NAFIU MOHAMMED, over alleged criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and diversion of public funds to the tune of One-Point-Three Million Dollars and Seven Hundred and Forty-Six-Point-Seven Million Naira.
Delivering his ruling on the motion on Monday, Justice JUDE ONWUEGBUZIE held that the defendant willfully failed to appear in court without a valid reason, maintaining that the law empowers the court to issue a bench warrant of arrest in such situation.
