Cyberstalking: Court Admits Video of Reno Omokri's Drug Claims Against President Tinubu in Sowore's Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja has admitted as evidence video clips in which former presidential aide and ambassadorial nominee, RENO OMOKRI, described President BOLA TINUBU as a “drug lord”.

The Guardian Newspapers reports that when the videos were played in open court, one clip showed OMOKRI during a 2023 interview on ARISE News, describing President TINUBU as a “drug lord” and claiming that he had in possession documentary evidence against him.

This is the latest development in the ongoing trial of political activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, OMOYELE SOWORE, on two counts of cyberstalking President TINUBU.

The videos were tendered during the cross-examination of the first prosecution witness, CYRIL NOSIKE, who is an operative of the Department of State Services, by the defence counsel, MARSHAL ABUBAKAR.

Justice MOHAMMED UMAR admitted the video after dismissing objections raised by counsel to the Department of State Services, AKINLOLU KEHINDE, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Justice UMAR held that the defence complied with the requirements for tendering electronically generated evidence under Section 84 of the Evidence Act.

The DSS dragged SOWORE to court over some posts he made on social media, allegedly describing President TINUBU as a criminal, for which he pleaded not guilty to during his arraignment on January 19, 2026.
