ELEMORO DPO REDEPLOYED, AS LAGOS CP ORDERS INVESTIGATION OF ALLEGED ABUSE OF OFFICE
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has set up a 5-man committee of senior officers to investigate allegations of abuse against the Elemoro Divisional Police Officer (DPO).
The move is in reaction to a report by Vanguard Newspaper of April 24, 2025, which alleged that the Elemoro DPO and other officers tried to unlawfully jail two mechanics.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the investigation panel comprising senior officers is headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the panel, including the OC Legal of the Command, is mandated to complete its assignment and submit its report within a week.
Consequent upon this, CSP Hundeyin said the Elemoro DPO and other officers involved in the alleged act have been transferred out of Elemoro Division to pave way for a thorough and unhindered investigation.
The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police also extended invitation to the lawyer concerned for a meeting with the investigative committee at his own convenience.
He said the Lagos State Police Command does not support any form of inhuman treatment or miscarriage of justice in any form and will make sure that appropriate disciplinary measures are applied to serve as effective deterrent to others, if the officers and found culpable.
