Fatal Road Crash: Court Adjourns Anthony Joshua Driver's Trial to Feb 25

The trial of the driver behind the road accident that claimed the lives of two associates of former world boxing champion, ANTHONY JOSHUA, has been adjourned to February 25, 2026.

The defendant, ADENIYI KAYODE rammed a Lexus SUV in which he was conveying JOSHUA and his friends into a stationary truck, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 29, 2025, killing SINA GHAMI and ABDUL LATIF KEVIN AYODELE.

The Ogun State Police Command dragged ADENIYI KAYODE before the Sagamu Magistrate’s Court on January 2, 2026, on four counts, including dangerous driving causing death.

Forty-six-year-old KAYODE is also accused of reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention, causing bodily harm and damage to property, and driving without a valid national driver’s licence.

Magistrate OLUFUNILAYO SOMEFUN, who is presiding over the case, adjourned the case following a request by the prosecution counsel, NIJIWE RICHARD.

The Prosecution said the adjournment would allow time to seek the advice of the State Attorney General, through the office of the Department of Public Prosecution.

The request was initially rejected by the counsel to the defendant, ABIODUN OLALEKAN, who expressed his readiness to forge ahead with the case.

Earlier, the court granted the defendant bail in the sum of Five Million Naira, with two sureties.
