FCT POLICE OFFICERS REJECT N1.5M BRIBE TO FREE KIDNAPPER
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command is celebrating the remarkable commitment to duty and professional integrity by some of its officers who rejected a bribe of One-Point-Five Million Naira to free a suspected kidnaper.
The FCT Command Police Public Relations Officer, CSP JOSEPHINE ADEH, said in a statement that one YAHAYA SALEH was arrested in connection to the attempted bribery.
CSP ADEH said the arrest of SALEH followed a discreet operation by officers of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, who have been investigating a kidnapping syndicate operating within the FCT and its environs.
The police spokeswoman said forty-year-old YAHAYA SALEH approached the investigators and offered the bribe to compromise the case and unlawfully release one of the arrested suspects.
She said the FCT Commissioner of Police, AJAO ADEWALE, commended the officers for their exemplary conduct and assured the public of the Command’s intolerance of corruption and interference with justice.
