LAGOS CJ CALLS FOR IMMORTALISATION OF PIONEER CHAIRMAN OF NBA ETI-OSA BRANCH
The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, has called for an annual lecture to be instituted in honour of the pioneer Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Eti-Osa Branch, Late Barrister Adewale Sanni.
Justice Alogba made the call in a message at the opening ceremony of the maiden Law Week celebration of the NBA Eti-Osa Branch, held at the Naval Dockyard in Victoria Island, where he was represented by Justice Oluwatoyin Atinuke Ipaye.
On his part, constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Abiodun Jelili Owonikoko commended the leadership of the NBA Eti-Osa Branch and pledged the sum of five million naira to support the legacies of late pioneer branch chairman, Late Barrister Adewale Sanni.
In his response, the Chairman of the NBA, Eti-Osa Branch, Barrister Olanrewaju Obadina, said they had taken notes of the recommendations and suggestions and would take steps to implement where necessary.
On the theme for the 2025 Law Week Celebration of the NBA Eti-Osa Branch: Bridging Tradition and Innovation in Law – Advancing Rights, Ethics and Technology - Obadina said it was both timely and deliberate.
“Legal practitioners are called to uphold timeless principles of justice and ethics, while responding to the demands of an increasingly digital and complex world. We must embrace innovations without losing the soul of our profession” he asserted.
The NBA Eti-Osa Branch Chairman further declared that the Law Week celebration is a call on members to recommit themselves to excellence, unity and service, as he urged all members to participate actively, share generously and leave better equipped to lead in both the courtrooms and in the community.
