The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, says it has uncovered a counterfeit alcohol operation at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex in Ojo.

NAFDAC noted in a statement that operatives from its Investigation and Enforcement Directorate raided the facility concealed within a makeshift parking store with the International Trade Fair Complex in Lagos.

It noted that the enforcement action was executed based on credible intelligence, which uncovered more than twenty stores engaged in the illegal and criminal operation within the complex.

NAFDAC said its officers found suspects in the process of blending counterfeits of popular alcoholic beverage brands, as well as the revalidation of expired and unsafe beverages, and a stockpile of banned imported products.

The agency says two suspects were arrested, and products valued at over Two Billion Naira confiscated during the operation at the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.

It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious manufacturing, products revalidation, or sales activity through its official complaints line.
