NDC 10 Million-Man March: OMO-AGEGE Demands Unsealing of TOBORE AGBAH Business in Ughelli, Delta State

Authorities in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have sealed a business premises belonging to a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, TOBORE AGBAH.

The move comes about twenty-four-hours after TOBORE AGBAH led road walk by NDC supporters in Ughelli, which he tagged NDC Ten Million-Man March.

Former Deputy Senate President, OVIE OMO-AGEGE, confirmed the development and accused the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, JARO EGBO, of tyranny and executive lawlessness.

In a statement, Senator OMO-AGEGE said to respond to such a legitimate democratic expression with brute force and abuse of state power is political gangsterism and executive rascality of the worst order.

“Let it be clearly understood: the right to peaceful assembly and the right to own and operate a business premises are guaranteed under Sections 40 and 43 of the 1999 Constitution as amended. No local government chairman has the power to override the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” he noted.

He said if the Ughelli North Local Government Chairman feels threatened by his own people for marching peacefully in their own town, then he has lost the moral legitimacy to lead them.

The former Delta Central Senator demanded an immediate and unconditional unsealing of AGBAH's business premises; a public apology from the Ughelli North LGA Chairman, and for the Governor of Delta State, and the Delta State House of Assembly to urgently take steps to restrain political intolerance before it plunges the local government into avoidable crisis.
