NDLEA DETAINS FAMILY OF 4, OTHERS FOR HARD DRUGS DISTRIBUTION, TRAFFICKING
The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has detained five suspects, including four members of the same family, for allegedly running a major hard drugs distribution network from the Ajaha area of Lagos.
The suspects include JOHNSON UCHENNA, who is said to be a businessman in Ajah, as well as his wife ROSEMARY, and their two daughters: STELLA and NGOZI, plus their family friend OKORO ELIJAH.
NDLEA spokesman, FEMI BABAFEMI, said the couple was first arrested with over two hundred and seventy-seven kilograms of Skunk on Friday, June 13, 2025, by operatives of the Department of State Security in the Ojo area of Lagos and transferred to the NDLEA for further investigation.
BABAFEMI said that operatives later raided their residence and packing store on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, where they recovered another two hundred and thirty-one kilograms of Skunk.
In a related development, NDLEA operatives have arrested one ABUREMI HYSENT at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos with seven thousand, six hundred and sixty pills of tramadol.
HYSENT is alleged to have attempted to smuggle the drugs to Italy, as she is a frequent flyer, who specialises in conveying goods for customers from Nigeria to Italy and vice versa.
NDLEA spokesman, FEMI BABAFEMI, said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday July 2, 2025, after the hard drug pills were found hidden inside food items packed among other goods he was conveying to Italy.
BABAFEMI said operatives at the Lagos Airport also intercepted fifty-two pieces of counterfeit traveler’s cheques valued at Seventeen Million, Seven Hundred Thousand Australian Dollars, which were concealed in children’s books, and meant to be smuggled to Malaysia, through Turkey.
