PFIPC Scandal: ADENIYI ADEYEMI Alleges Threat to Life, Calls for Independent Probe
Prince ADENIYI ADEYEMI; the man in the eye of the storm in the so-called nonexistent Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC, has alleged substantial threat to his life.
ADEYEMI who is due for arraignment in court by the Nigeria Police Force has been in hiding since the PFIPC scandal was uncovered.
From his secret location, ADEYEMI granted another interview on television, alleging that he received verified and highly reliable intelligence indicating that he was being targeted for elimination the moment he surrenders himself to the authorities and is taken into custody.
ADEYEMI said his fear is not unfounded, considering the events surrounding the death of one DOLAPO BABATUNDE TANIMOLA, who served as an intermediary in his purported appointment as Director General of the PFIPC.
ADEYEMI faulted official reports claiming that TANIMOLA died in a fire incident at Kachi Hotel in Utako, Abuja, saying there are no independent eyewitness or media verification of the claim.
He further alleged that the entire Kachi Hotel structure was invaded by unidentified armed actors and manually demolished, effectively erasing a vital physical crime scene and erasing material evidence.
Prince ADENIYI ADEYEMI commended President BOLA AHMED TINUBU for ordering the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, to investigate the PFIPC and other attendant matters.
However, ADEYEMI said the investigation should go beyond the government bureaucracy, adding that an independent panel involving international and civil society organisations, as well as independent media representatives would do a better job at resolving the matter.
