PSC PLANS EXPOSURE OF POLICE PERSONNEL TO FORENSIC AND DNA STUDIES

The Police Service Commission has decided to expose personnel of the Nigeria Police Force to forensic and DNA studies as part of efforts to build a new police force for the country.

This is based on the Commission’s assessment that crimes and criminality have gone scientific and operate across national boundaries.

PSC Chairman, HASHIMU ARGUNGU, who is a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, made this known during a meeting with officials from the Center for Forensic Programmes and DNA Studies of the University of Benin, which was led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Professor CHRISTOPHER OSUNBOR.

DIG ARGUNGU said that knowledge of forensic programmes and the use of DNA in investigations would go a long way in assisting the police in the handling of delicate criminal matters across the country.

Details of the interaction were captured in a statement by the PSC spokesman, IKECHUKWU ANI.
