PSC SEEKS INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION TO CHECK FRAUD IN POLICE RECRUITMENT

The Police Service Commission has requested a partnership with the Federal Character Commission to ensure national spread in the latest round of recruitment of personnel for the Nigeria Police Force.

The PSC also warned that it will deal decisively with anyone who engages in racketeering or fraud in the recruitment of qualified Nigerians into the Nigeria Police Force, include Cadet ASPs and Inspectors.

The Chairman of the Commission, HASHIMU SALIHU ARGUNGU, who is a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, gave the warning during a meeting in Abuja with the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, KAYODE OLADELE.

DIG ARGUNGU who led a team of senior PSC officials on a courtesy visit to the FCC secretariat, said that the date for commencement of the next round of police recruitment has not been fixed, stressing that “…there can't be a better time to seek the partnership and cooperation of the Federal Character Commission as one of the reliable and pivotal stakeholders in the police recruitment process.”

In his remarks, while welcoming his guests, the FCC Boss, Hon. KAYODE OLADELE, Esq, said he appreciated the visit, saying it was a demonstration of inter-agency cooperation and a testament to a shared commitment to the ideals of fairness, justice, equity and national cohesion as enshrined in the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He further noted that "by working together to ensure fairness and balanced representation in law enforcement institutions, we are laying the foundation for a stronger sense of belonging, trust in public institutions, and sustainable peace across the country".

The FCC Chairman also reiterated that "a diverse and inclusive Police Force is better positioned to build public confidence, deter insecurity, and serve all citizens without bias thereby reinforcing the pillars of the Renewed Hope Agenda".

He finally reaffirmed the FCC's readiness to work closely with the PSC in monitoring and ensuring Federal character compliance in the Nigeria Police Force and also confident that the partnership will go a long way in serving the best interests of Nigeria and Nigerians in general.
