Kogi Central Senator, NATASHA AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN, has secured bail of fifty million naira in her trial for alleged defamation of the Senate President, GODSWILL AKPABIO, and former governor of Kogi State, YAHAYA BELLO.
The Federal Government arraigned Senator AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN before Justice CHIZOBA ORJI of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, and she pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.
The Federal Government alleged that the Senator made a false statement when she publicly claimed that the Senate President and the former Kogi governor were plotting to have her assassinated.
In granting bail to the female lawmaker, Justice ORJI ordered her to produce one surety who owns a landed property in Abuja and a responsible resident of the FCT, before adjourning the case to September 23, 2025 for trial.
Reports from Abuja indicate that there was tight security around the premises of the FCT High Court, as Senator NATASHA AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN arrived there in the company of her husband.
Numerous supporter of Senator AKPOTI-UDUAGHAN, including former Education Minister, OBY EZEKWESILI, were also present to witness the court session.
