SOLUDO ADVOCATES SEPERATION OF NNAMDI KANU TRIAL FROM SOUTH-EAST SECURITY CHALLENGES

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has called for the separation of the case involving the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and security challenges being experienced in the South-East geopolitical zone.

Prof Soludo who made this known in a Media Chat streamed from the state capital, Awka, said if the courts have ordered the release of Kanu, then he should be freed, as he is needed for discussions on the future of the South-East.

However, Soludo blamed the Simone Ekpa-led group for the wave of criminality across the five states in the South-East, saying that they are involved in kidnapping for ransom, ritual killings, and wanton destruction of lives and property of citizens.

He also cautioned against threats that could dislocate Igbos in other parts of Nigeria, as was attempted when Igbos were issued with eviction notice in the North.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria said a recent assessment estimated that there over eleven million Igbos in the northern part of Nigeria alone, warning that any attempt to dislocate them, would throw the South-East into chaos.

Meanwhile, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is now facing criticism over his choice of mainly journalists from Lagos for his media chat on the performance of the Anambra State Government under his leadership.

A senior journalist, Sunny Igboanugo, took to his Facebook page to lampoon Governor Soludo, saying that the Lagos press crew he invited to his media chat and fed with what he called “Eldorado pictures” hardly know the name of any village in Anambra State.

Governor Soludo is on the third year of his first four-year term, and is gearing up to seek re-election for a possible second and final term of four years.
