TCN SAYS LOAD SHEDDING EXPECTED AROUND AGBARA, AS 132/33KV AGBARA TRANSMISSION SUBSTATION UNDERGOES UPGRADE
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it is upgrading its 2x45MVA to 2x100MVA Power Transformers at its Agbara 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Ogun State, under the Lagos Region.
TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed in a statement that the upgrade aims to increase the capacity of the substation to meet the growing electricity demand in Agbara and its environs.
Ndidi Mbah said the growing demand for electricity in the area was being driven by industrialization in the area.
Mbah said upon completion of the upgrade, three additional feeders would be radiated from the upgraded transformers, which would enable the Eko Electricity Distribution Company to increase supply to its customers in the area.
She said to minimize disruption in power supply, the TCN is replacing a 45MVA power transformer with a 100MVA transformer, with the second one still in the circuit to ensure minimal load shedding.
Once completed and energized, the spokesperson said the second 45MVA transformer would then be upgraded to 100MVA, thereby increasing the substation's total capacity from 150MVA to 260MVA.
She appealed to electricity consumers taking supply from the Agbara 132/33kV Transmission Substation to bear with the TCN during the upgrade period, as there may be temporary load shedding.
The TCN spokesperson assured that normal electricity supply would be restored as soon as the upgrade is completed.
