2 Abducted Maga Schoolgirls Escape, as Vice President Shettima Visits Kebbi State

Two of the students abducted by terrorists from the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, have escaped, as confirmed by the Kebbi State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, HALIMA BANDE.

Speaking n an interview with a news television channel, HALIMA BANDE also clarified that the number of the abducted schoolgirls is actually twenty-six, as against twenty-five earlier reported, which now leaves twenty-four victims in the camp of the abductors, after the two that escaped and are back home.

This comes as Nigeria’s Vice President, KASHIM SHETTIMA, is expected to visit Kebbi State on the instruction of President BOLA TINUBU, as confirmed in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, BAYO ONANUGA.

ONANUGA said President TINUBU assured of the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls, just as he commended Kebbi State Governor Mohammed NASIR IDRIS for his efforts, and urged communities, especially in areas that are facing security challenges, to share information with defence and security agencies to make the communities safe.

He said President TINUBU also sent his condolences to the military over the death of the gallant soldiers and Brigadier General MUSA UBA, who was abducted and executed by Islamist terrorists in Borno State.

The President is quoted as saying that as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, he felt depressed by the tragic death of soldiers and officers on active duty, just as he prayed for God to comfort the families of Brigadier General MUSA UBA and other fallen heroes.
