Academy of Medical Sciences Sets July 30 for Maiden Biannual Presidential Colloquium
The Academy of Medical Sciences, (formerly known as Academy of Medicine Specialties of Nigeria) is set to host its Maiden Biannual Presidential Colloquium, to address critical vulnerabilities within the national healthcare architecture.
The colloquium themed ‘Nigeria’s Health at a Crossroad: Confronting Workforce Shortages, Epidemic Risks, and Maternal Mortality’ will be delivered by the President of the Academy, Emeritus Professor OSATO FRANK GIWA-OSAGIE, FAMeds, OON, who is a distinguished professor of obstetrics and gynecology.
The seminal event, scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026, at The Old Great Hall, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi-Araba, Surulere, Lagos, is expected to bring together members of the academic community, healthcare professionals, policy stakeholders, and the general public.
As a non-profit organization, working outside of government to provide objective advice on medical matters, education, research and public health, the Academy of Medical Sciences is hosting the event in advancement of its foundational mission to promote excellence in medical education, healthcare delivery, and translational research.
