FG GAZETTES NEW TAX LAWS, PREPARATORY FOR IMPLEMENTATION 2026

The Federal Government has published the new tax reform laws in the government gazette, preparatory for the implementation of the provisions with effect from January, 2026.

This comes less than three months after President BOLA AHMED TINUBU signed into the tax reforms laws on June 26, 2025, which establish a new mode of taxation, tax administration, and revenue collection.

The move, as confirmed in a statement by the Personal Assistant to the President on Special Duties, KAMORUDEEN YUSUF, marks a historic turnaround of Nigeria’s fiscal framework.

YUSUF stated that the new tax laws include the Nigeria Tax Act and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, which will take effect on January 1, 2026.

The others are the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act and the Joint Revenue Establishment Board, which will become effective from June 26, 2025.

The Presidential aide said the tax reforms aim to simplify Nigeria’s tax system, support small businesses, attract investment, and strengthen fiscal stability.
