Guber Election: Police Detain Osun State's SSG Amid Heightened Political Tension

The political tension in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election has remained unabated, as the Osun State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the Secretary to the State Government, TESLIM IGBALAYE.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP ABIODUN OJELABI, disclosed in a statement that IGBALAYE was arrested alongside five others at a property in Osogbo.

DSP OJELABI said the police had received information indicating that suspected members of a criminal gang were hiding within the property at the Oroki Estate area, which he said is associated with the government official.

OJELABI said they also arrested one OLADELE ABIODUN, also known as ASHIPA, whom he said had been in the police watchlist over alleged involvement in serious crimes, including murder.

He said the other persons in detention are AKANDE TAIWO, 60; ADEYEMO LUKMAN, 45; OLAOYE MUFTAU, 50; and ADEREMI MUSLIU, 40.

The PPRO said items from the premises include a cash sum of over Four-Point-Eight Million Naira, a computer laptop, a photocopying machine, a printer, and a voter register.
