Ifo Residents Jubilate, As Police Arrest 4 Armed Robbers Terrorizing Ogun Communities
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four members of a robbery gang who have been terrorizing residents of Ifo and environs.
Thirty-two-year-old LEKAN ANNUOLUWAPO, who is said to be the gang leader, was arrested in Oloshe, together with a female companion identified as thirty-three-year-old AJOKE KAREEM.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP OMOLOLA ODUTOLA, disclosed in a statement that the suspects were directly linked to two robbery attacks, including a woman who was attacked at a church on October 17, 2025.
CSP ODUTOLA said the police also arrested one WALE ADELEYE, who confessed to committing the crime alongside LEKAN ANUOLUWAPO, with the use of a locally-made pistol.
ODUTOLA further disclosed that the same gage also attacked another resident of the area at gunpoint and carted away valuables on October 25, 2025.
The PPRO said the victim later identified LEKAN ANNUOLUWAPO as the suspect, as well as one AKPOMOKA GABRIEL as the robber who attacked him.
She said the arrested of the suspects was greeted with jubilation by residents across Ijoko and Ogba-Iyo neighborhoods, within Ifo axis.
In the statement, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, LANRE OGUNLOWO, commended officers involved in the operation and directed the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
CP OGUNLOWO also instructed the Area Commanders of Sango-Ota and Ifo to reinforce security measures at identified flashpoints throughout the yuletide season to deter criminal activities and ensure safety of lives and property.
