Insecurity: Sale of Petrol in Jerrycan, POS, Commercial Phone Charging Banned in Katsina State

The Katsina State Government has placed a ban on the use of jerrycans for the purchase, sale and transportation of petrol, as part of measures to tackle the activities of terrorists and bandits.

The state government said the move is intended to prevent fuel supplies from reaching criminal elements operating from forests and other remote hideouts.

The state government also ordered the immediate closure of all Point of Sale, POS, outlets and commercial phone-charging centres in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas.

This based on intelligence reports and security assessments showing that some of the facilities were being exploited by criminal networks to coordinate and sustain their activities.

Governor DIKKO UMARU RADDA announced the security measures in an Executive Order, after an emergency security meeting involving security agencies, traditional rulers and other key stakeholders.

The Executive Order also imposes a total ban on the use of motorcycles in Matazu and Musawa Local Government Areas, with a view to restricting the movement of bandits and kidnappers.

Governor RADDA reiterated that the protection of lives and property remained the major responsibility of his administration, and assured residents of continued collaboration with security agencies to restore lasting peace and stability across the state.

Details of the Executive Order were contained in a s statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, IBRAHIM KAULA MOHAMMED.

Meanwhile, Governor RADDA has paid a solidarity visit to AMINA RABE ABUBAKAR, the rescued wife of Major General RABE ABUBAKAR, who died in the den of kidnappers.
