LAGOS BALOGUN MARKET VIOLENCE: ONE PERSON KILLED, ANOTHER HOSPITALISED

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of one SODIQ IBRAHIM during a free for all at the popular Balogun Market on the Lagos Island.

One EBUKA ADINDU also sustained a stabbing injury on the shoulder and is in hospital receiving treatment under police observation.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP BENJAMIN HUNDEYIN, alleged that ADINDU stabbed himself and became unconscious after stabbing SODIQ IBRAHIM to death.

CSP HUNDEYIN who made this known in a statement, said ADINDU is currently under arrest in on his hospital bed and would be prosecuted upon his recovery.

The Police spokesman said that the incident at the Balogun Market, which occurred at about 11am, had no tribal or ethnic colouration, adding that no other person was killed or injured.

He said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, OOLHUDNARE JIMOH, encouraged traders and members of the general public on the Island and other parts of Lagos to go about their businesses and other lawful endeavors without fear or worries.

The PPRO said CP JIMOH also urged all residents of Lagos to remain law-abiding and cooperate with the police to sustain the existing peace in the state, just as he cautioned against spreading rumours that could cause fear in the mind of the people.
