Lagos Police Tightens Security in Surulere, Ishaga Over Cult Violence

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports of cult-related clashes around the Surulere and Ishaga areas as false alarm.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ABIMBOLA ADEBISI, made the denial in a statement following claims of violence in the Shitta, Akerele, ad Itire-Aguda of Surulere, as well as the Ishaga axis.

ADEBISI, who is a Superintendent of Police, said while the Command acknowledges the concerns raised, members of the public are advised to disregard unverified rumours that are capable of creating panic.

However, the Police spokeswoman confirmed that the Lagos State Police Command had initiated proactive measures to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the affected areas and beyond.

She said following the initial reports, the Command enforced prompt deployment of police personnel and operational assets to all the mentioned locations and other adjoining communities.

The PPRO said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, TIJANI FATAI, also directed intensified police patrols, strategic positioning of officers, and increased police visibility across the identified flashpoints to ensure the safety of lives and property.

The Command spokeswoman reassure members of the public that there was no cause for alarm, just as she encouraged Lagos residents to go about their lawful duties without fear or apprehension
