Maiduguri Terror Attacks: Opposition Knocks Tinubu, as Army Warns of Resurgence of Suicide Bombing

Nigerian opposition politicians are latching on the multiple suicide bombings in Maiduguri on Monday to criticize the administration of President BOLA TINUBU.

This comes as the Nigerian Army warns about the resurgence of suicide bombing by Jihadist groups in the northern part of the country, and advised members of the public to avoid crowded areas.

The security advisory was contained in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the North-East sector of Operation Hadin Kai Joint Taskforce, Lieutenant Colonel SANNI UBA.

He noted that the Monday evening suicide bombings targeted crowded public areas in an attempt by the terrorists to inflict mass casualties and create panic within the metropolis.

In his reaction to the development, former Nigeria’s Vice President, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, warned that the resurgence of terrorism could erode public confidence in the government’s ability to protect its citizens.

In a statement on his social media handle, ATIKU condemned the resurgence of suicide bombing and called for an urgent review of security strategies.

On his part; former Rivers State governor and former Minister of Transportation, ROTIMI CHIBUIKE AMAECHI, blamed the Tinubu Administration for failing to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

In a statement condemning the attacks and sympathizing with the families of victims, AMAECHI who recently defected from the APC to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, criticized the Tinubu Administration for incompetence and lacking basic leadership skills required to safeguard citizens.

Leading political activist, OMOYELE SOWORE said President BOLA TINUBU should have cancelled his UK visit following the deadly bomb attacks by terrorists in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Meanwhile; the Inspector-General of Police, OLATUNJI DISU, has visited the Borno State capital, a day after suicide bombers killed at least twenty-three people on Monday evening.

The IGP visited the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters to review security measures and strengthen coordinated response efforts.

IGP DISU conducted an on-the-spot assessment at the Maiduguri Monday Market bombing site, and also stopped by at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where some of the victims are receiving treatment.

He sympathized with the victims and their families, and assured Maiduguri residents of the police force’s commitment to dismantling all networks responsible for the attacks.

Elsewhere; the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, BELLO SHEHU, has reinforced security deployment in parts of Jibia Local Government Area following a deadly reprisal attack by armed bandits in Falale village.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ABUBAKAR SADIQ, made this known to newsmen, while confirming the killing of eighteen in the attack on Tuesday.

Reports indicate that the bandits killed fifteen villagers in retaliation for the killing of three of their members by vigilantes on patrol in Falale village.
