MARSHALS ARREST 3 FOREIGNERS FOR ILLEGAL MINING IN NASARAWA

Operatives of the security taskforce for the mining sector in Nigeria, better known as Mining Marshal, have arrested three foreigners for alleged involvement in illegal mining activities in Nasarawa State.

The Commander of the Mining Marshals, John Attah Onoja, led the operation at a heavily guarded illegal mining site in Rafin Gabas, Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Commander Onoja said the site had been sealed off following the raid, while a manhunt is underway to track down other suspects who escaped from the site.

Onojo said the investigations would also seek to identify security personnel involved in illegal mining activities in the area.

Segun Tomori, who is the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Aleke, shared details of the operation in a statement.

Tomori also said that the Minister commended operatives involved in the operation, which he described as a breakthrough in the ongoing fight against illegal mining in the country.
