NBA, Eti-Osa Branch Mourns Death of Justice JOSEPHINE OYEFESO
The Lagos State Judiciary is in mourning over the death of Honourable Justice JOSPHINE EFUNKUNBI OYEFESO of the High Court of Lagos State, Eti-Osa Judicial Division.
Justice OYEFESO died on Friday last week, May 15, 2026, under undisclosed circumstances, according to a statement signed by WOLE, TISH, TITO and TAMI, on behalf of the family.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Eti-Osa Branch, OLANREWAJU OBADINA, also confirmed the death of Justice OYEFESO in a statement, saying that the Executive Committee, and entire members of the NBA, Eti-Osa Branch, received with profound shock and deep sorrow the sudden passing of the jurist.
OBADINA noted that Justice OYEFESO was a distinguished jurist whose life embodied integrity, diligence, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of justice.
The NBA, Eti-Osa Branch Chairman said the passing of Justice OYEFESO has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill, stressing that her legacy of integrity, service, compassion, and commitment to justice shall continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and in the annals of the legal profession.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
The Chairman, Executive Committee, and entire members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Eti-Osa Branch, received with profound shock and deep sorrow the sudden passing of Honourable Justice Josphine Efunkunbi Oyefeso of the High Court of Lagos State, Eti-Osa Judicial Division, who departed this life on the 15th day of May, 2026.
The news of Her Lordship’s transition came as a painful and devastating loss not only to the Judiciary of Lagos State but also to the entire legal profession and all who had the privilege of encountering her exceptional character, wisdom, and service to humanity.
Honourable Justice Oyefeso was a distinguished jurist whose life embodied integrity, diligence, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the advancement of justice. Until her passing, Her Lordship remained passionately devoted to the growth and strengthening of the justice system in Lagos State. She discharged her judicial responsibilities with remarkable courage, fairness, and uncommon dedication, earning the admiration and respect of the Bar, the Bench, and the public alike.
To the members of the NBA Eti-Osa Branch, Her Lordship was more than a Judge; she was a guardian, mentor, motherly figure, and pillar of support. Her doors were always open, her words were always encouraging, and her guidance immensely impactful. She carried herself with grace and humility, while continuously fostering cordiality and mutual respect between the Bench and the Bar within the Eti-Osa Judicial Division.
Her passing has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. We shall deeply miss her wisdom, calm disposition, exemplary leadership, and unwavering dedication to justice and humanity.
On behalf of the entire NBA Eti-Osa Branch, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Chief Judge and Judges of the Lagos State Judiciary, her family, friends, colleagues, and all loved ones during this painful period.
