NCDC Confirms 13 New Lassa Fever Cases in Ondo and Edo, National Toll Hits 924, With 172 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, has confirmed thirteen new cases of Lassa fever within the period, covering September 29 to October 5, 2025.

In its latest situation report shared on X, the NCDC said the new infections were recorded in Ondo and Edo states, which are two of the hardest-hit areas since the beginning of the year.

The NCDC update shows that Nigeria has now recorded a total of nine hundred and twenty-four confirmed cases of Lassa fever, and one hundred and seventy-two deaths in one hundred and six local government areas, across twenty-one states.

The NCDC further noted that over ninety percent of the confirmed cases so far have been reported from Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, Taraba, and Ebonyi States.
