Ogun State Police Command Warns Against Circulation of False Misleading Security Information
The Ogun State Police Command has warned individuals involved in the circulation "reckless and unsolicited security information" about the state to desist forthwith.
To this end, the State Police Command disowned a viral online security information attached with the picture of the State Commissioner of Police, CP CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, "some of which falsely insinuates a state of emergency or widespread insecurity in the State."
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola who made this known in a statement, noted that "one of such misleading posts, currently in circulation with the picture of the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, is deceptive, unauthorized, and was made without any directive, approval, or recourse to the Command."
CSP Odutola said: "It has been further observed that certain individuals and groups are recycling old videos, publishing alarming content, and using divisive language with intent to cause panic and heighten fear among residents."
Odutola said mischief-makers involved in the act are warned to desist from posting frightening videos, voice-overs, or unverified claims, the majority of which are false.
The PPRO further stated that residents of Ogun State and other stakeholders are urged to remain calm and reassured. "All areas identified by well-meaning communities seeking police attention are under close surveillance, with additional deployment of police personnel and assets to enhance safety and security in affected locations" she assured.
