Police Arrest 3 Suspects Over Murder of Fmr OGTV Staff, Security Guard

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of OLAKITAN OYESIKU and her security guard, PELUMI ADETAYO.

OLAKITAN OYESIKU, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” was a veteran broadcaster who retired from the Ogun State Television.

OYESIKU was found dead on Sunday, June 21, 2026, alongside her security guard, PELUMI ADETAYO, at her residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The suspect allegedly linked to the double murder are twenty-two-year-old SODEINDE OLAJUWON PHILIP, twenty-seven-year-old SAKIRUDEEN ABDULRAHEEM AYOOLA, and thirty-six-year-old SOBU OBAFUNSHO.

The State Commissioner of Police, OLABODE OJAJUNI, identified SODEINDE as the principal suspect, saying he confessed to have recruited the other two suspects for the crime in order to teach the victim a lesson, having previously worked for her as a security a guard.

CP OJAJUNI said detectives arrested the suspects and also recovered the deceased woman’s vehicle through technical tracking, following a forensic analysis of a certain handwritten note.

OJAJUNI said detectives tracked down the principal suspect at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer, following which the other two suspects were also tracked down and arrested.

He said the suspects murdered the victims in the afternoon of Saturday, June 20, 2026, after they first overpowered the security guard, and used him to gain access to the residence.
