Police Detain Suspect Behind Bomb Threats to Lagos Schools, as CP Showcases Suspects, Recoveries

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the recent threats to bomb some schools in the state – two in Ikeja and one in the Ogombo area.

The Commissioner of Police, OLOHUNDARE JIMOH, said the yet-to-be named suspect initially claimed that he lost his mobile phone, through which the threats were made, prior to January 21 when the threat was issued.

However, CP JIMOH said further investigation revealed that the same mobile line was actively used by the suspect to communicate with members of his family during and after the period the threats were made, thereby contradicting his claim.

JIMOH said detectives contacted the father of the suspect and he testified that his son was known for being a truant.

The Police Commissioner made this known while briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja on the breakthroughs recorded by police operatives in Lagos from December last year till date.

These include the arrest of twenty-one suspected one-chance kidnappers, including members of a fake foreign currency syndicate, as well as the recovery of twenty-five stolen and smuggled vehicles in different parts of Lagos.

He said police operatives equally recovered seventeen assorted firearms and ten cartridges from the suspected criminals during the period.
