POLICE DETAINS NOTORIOUS LAGOS ISLAND UNION LEADER FOR MUTLTIPLE ASSAULT, MURDER

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested fifty-five-year-old SAMSIDEEN OLADITI for violent crimes, physical assault and murder on Lagos Island.

OLADITI, also known as SHAMELON, is being detained at State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti-Yaba, for discreet investigation.

The suspect had on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, violently attacked a dispatch rider and inflicted serious bodily injuries on the victim, who was later rushed to hospital and placed on oxygen.

The spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP BABASEYI OLUSEYI, disclosed in a statement that another complaint was lodged against OLADITI yesterday, September 18, over another man he allegedly beat up, and who later died also on Wednesday this week.

DSP OLUSEYI said the news of the death of the victim sparked a protest by sympathizers of the deceased, who trooped to OLADITI’s office at the Sandgrouse Market on Lagos Island, where two motorcycles belonging to the suspect were set on fire.

The Deputy PPRO said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, OLOHUNDARE JIMOH, personally led police personnel to the scene to restore calm and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

“The Lagos State Police Command wishes to assure members of the public that justice will be diligently pursued in all the cases against the suspect. CP Olohundare Jimoh further appeals to residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and not to take the law into their own hands. He enjoins them to cooperate fully with the police in the ongoing investigations.”
