Police Nab 4 Suspected "Cultists/Hitmen" in Ajangbadi, Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and hitmen allegedly linked to violent crimes and killings around the Ajanmgbadi axis of Ojo Local Government Area and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ABIMBOLA ADEBISI, made this known in a statement, saying the breakthrough was in line with the continued commitment of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, TIJANI FATAI, to rid the state of cultism, violent crimes, and other criminal activities.

ADEBISI, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspects include thirty-five-year-old EMMANUEL NWOKOLO, alias “Oblo”, and thirty-nine-year-old AYOLA ISRAEL, alias “Essy Pawpaw”.

Others are thirty-one-year-old EBUKA NNAMDI, and twenty-two-year-old CHINEDU OKAFOR, who were all arrested at a hotel in Ajanmgbadi, following credible intelligence received by the Command.

DSP ADEBISI said a video from one of the suspects’ mobile phones during investigations contains recording of the killing of unidentified persons within Ajanmgbadi and surrounding communities.

The PPRO said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity and admitted to being responsible for terrorising residents in the area.

The police spokespersons said further investigation and searches conducted by operatives led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols, one revolver pistol, and thirteen live cartridges.

She said further investigation is ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspects’ involvement in other criminal activities, identify other members of the gang, and apprehend all accomplices, after which the suspects would be charged to court.
