Police Nab 5 Teenagers for Burglary in Ogun State
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested five suspects in connection to separate incidents of burglary of market shops in the Ado-Odo axis.
The suspects include LATEEF KHALID, age 15, and KAREEM JAMAL, age 16, who were first apprehended inside the shop they burgled on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP OLUBORODE OPEYEMI, said a night watchman had observed suspicious movements inside a market stall, upon which police patrol teams were mobilized to the scene, and arrested the suspects.
He said the interrogation of the suspects led to the recovery of some stolen foodstuffs and other items, as well as the arrest of 14-year-old SOFIU ALABI, who admitted to providing the key used to access the shop. "All three suspects have been charged to court", he noted in a statement.
In a related development, the Police spokesman said operatives of the state-run So-Safe Corps apprehended two other teenagers, Taofik Abioro (16) and Ogundele Monday (15) on Friday, September 4, 2026, and handed them over to Police detectives.
He said during preliminary interrogation, both suspects confessed to participating in multiple shop burglaries across Ado-Odo, and subsequent searches at their premises yielded additional stolen items.
The case has been referred for further investigation, while tracking efforts continue for an outstanding accomplice.
The Deputy PPRO said Commissioner of Police, CP BODE OJAJUNI, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the officers of the Ado-Odo Division for their swift action and lauded the So-Safe Corps and local community members for their synergy, emphasizing that collaborative stakeholder engagement remains vital to disrupting criminal networks.
