PSC Approves Promotion of 1 DIG, 7 AIGs, 13 CPs, 854 Other Police Officers
The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of over eight hundred and seventy senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, including one new Deputy Inspector General of Police.
Others are seven Commissioners of Police who were promoted to Assistant-Inspectors General of Police; as well as thirteen new Commissioners of Police, and thirty new Deputy Commissioners of Police.
The PSC approved the promotion of the police officers after putting them through written examinations and oral interviews at its Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
Confirming the development in a statement, the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, TORTY NJOKU KALU, said the other promoted officers include fifty-one Chief Superintendents of Police, who were elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police.
Also promoted are five hundred and forty-two new Chief Superintendents of Police; one hundred and nineteen new Superintendents of Police; and twelve new Deputy Superintendents of Police.
According to the statement by the PSC spokesman, the Chairman of the Commission, HASHIMU ARGUNGU, congratulated the newly promoted officers on their elevation, stressing that promotion comes with higher expectations.
ARGUNGU, who is a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, urged beneficiaries to rededicate themselves to effective policing, protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of law and order.
