Sacked Former Minister, BETTA EDU, Drops Cryptic Tweet Affirming Her Innocence

Sacked former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr BETTA EDU, has expressed the hope that someday her irreproachability will be known to all.

Dr BETTA EDU made the comment in a post on her X handle, nearly two years after she was suspended by President BOLA TINUBU and subsequently sacked from the Federal Executive Council.

President TINUBU also ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate Dr EDU for allegedly authorizing the transfer of Five Hundred and Eighty-Five Million Naira into a private bank account.

Nearly twenty-three months after her exit from President TINUBU’s cabinet, Dr BETTA EDU shared a cryptic message, professing her love for Nigeria and pledging to give her best for the nation and its people.

In what appears to be an expression of grief over the wave of attacks and abductions by terrorists in different parts of the country, Dr BETTA EDU stated: “In my innocence; I gave all; unending hours going through places where people of her status will never condescend to, just to bring succor to the poor and vulnerable who are the most important in our society! (We are only as strong as the weakest of us).

“Someday my irreproachability will be known to all; the night must surely give way to day light; let us keep faith in our nation, pursue peaceful coexistence; support the President, Governors; Government at all levels and the security agencies to overcome this patch of darkness in our nation.” She asserted.

The Cross River State-born former Woman Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, said her heart goes out to those who have lost love ones this period. “I strongly believe with the renewed security strategies by Mr President; those children and persons abducted in KEBBI, Niger and other places will return home in safety! Every life matters; we must stand together to fight poverty and insecurity as a nation! I love you all and I mean”

President BOLA TINUBU approved the suspension of Betta Edu on January 8, 2024, with immediate effect. The President also asked the EFCC to investigate financial transactions of the ministry under her watch, following allegations that funds meant for vulnerable groups were diverted into private bank accounts.
