Security Alert: Police Mobilise Response Teams for JAMB UTME Nationwide

The Inspector General of Police, OLATUNJI DISU, has ordered the deployment of police personnel at CBT venues for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, which begins tomorrow, April 16.

The UTME, which is being conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, is spread across a period of ten days, leading up to April 25, with four sessions daily at each CBT centre.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ANTHONY PLACID, said police rapid response teams will be on standby across all the UTME centres nationwide.

PLACID made the disclosure in a statement, in which he also dismissed what he called unfounded rumours about threats to the safety of the UTME candidates.

The Force PRO said while the Nigeria Police Force does not act on rumours, the safety concerns raised by members of the public have been duly noted.

He assured that proactive measures have been put in place to ensure a secure environment for candidates, both overtly and covertly, to prevent any untoward incident.
