TERRORISTS ATTEMPT TO BRIBE TROOPS IN PLATEAU - DHQ

The Defence Headquarters says troops of Operation Safe Haven rejected a bribe of Thirteen-Point-Seven Million Naira by terrorists operating in Plateau State.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General MARKUS KANGYE, said the troops had intercepted a suspicious vehicle with bullet holes, along the Jos-Sanga Road, while responding to a distress call about terrorist activities.

Major General KANGYE said during the encounter, two suspects in the vehicle attempted to bribe the soldiers with the cash sum in exchange for their freedom.

KANGYE made this known during a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, as he outlined the outcomes of recent military operations across the country, between July 9 and 16, 2025.

He said the troops also carried out offensive operations and responded to several distress calls in Bassa, Barkin Ladi, South Wase, Riyom, and Jos East of Plateau State, as well as Kaura and Sanga in Kaduna State.

The Defence spokesman said that seven suspected militias were arrested in Barkin Ladi and Jos South in Plateau, as well as Wamba and Sanga in Nasarawa and Kaduna states.
