There is Genocide in Nigeria - Prof Bolaji Akinyemi

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor BOLAJI AKINYEMI, says those who say there is no genocide in Nigeria should go and live in the Middle Belt or in the North-East and North-West of the country.

Professor AKINYEMI said armed Islamist groups are killing Christians in the Middle Best and part of the North-East and North West, just as they are also killing fellow Muslims.

AKINYEMI, who spoke in an interview on Arise Television morning show, Tuesday, November 12, 2025, said the adoption of the legal definition of genocide will limit the understanding of the impact of the onslaught by Islamist terrorists in Nigeria.

He also urged Nigerians to ignore the language of the United States President, DONALD TRUMP, warning about possible US military deployment against Islamist terrorists in Nigeria due to the spate of killings in the country.

The former diplomat warned against getting carried away by the verbal support for Nigeria by China and the European Union, saying it would not do the nation any good in the long run.

Professor BOLA AKINYEMI warned that Nigeria will pay heavily if it does not accept the assistance of the United States and continues to play games with the Islamist insurgency in the country.

He backed the recent suggestion by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor ENOCH ADEBOYE for President BOLA TINUBU to set timeline of one hundred days to tackle the Islamist insurgency in the country.
