ADC Crisis: NAFIU BALA GOMBE Expelled, As National Convention Delegates Ratify DAVID MARK Leadership

Delegates of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, have overwhelmingly voted to amend the party’s constitution and to ratify the leadership of the National Working Committee under Senator DAVID MARK.

This were part of the outcomes of the ADC National Convention, which was held at the Ranbow Event Centre in Abuja yesterday, after initial controversies over the choice of a venue.

Former Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the ADC Electoral Sub-Committee, EMEKA IHEDIOHA, announced that ninety-four percent of the accredited delegates voted in support of the amended constitution.

IHEDIOHA said delegates also ratified the decision of the party’s National Executive Committee on the dissolution of the RALPH NWOSU-led National Working Committee and the adoption of the DAVID MARK-led NWC to run the affairs of the party.

Furthermore, the leadership of the ADC announced the expulsion of former deputy national chairman, NAFIU BALA GOMBE, and the Yagba Federal Constituency lawmaker from Kogi State, LEKE ABEJIDE.

Other ADC members expelled from the party include factional leader KINGSLEY TEMITOPE, NOMAN OBINNA, KENNEDY ODION, STELLA CHUKWUMA, and four others.

Earlier, while addressing the delegates, prominent leaders of the ADC, including ATIKU ABUBAKAR, PETER OBI, ROTIMI AMAECHI, and RAUF AREGBESOLA, used the opportunity to criticize the APC-led Federal Government over the worsening security crisis in the country.

PETER OBI warned about Nigeria’s mounting debt crisis, just as ROTIMI AMAECHI expressed concern over rising insecurity, while RAUF AREGBESOLU described President BOLA TINUBU’s Renewed Hope agenda as a shame.

On his part, ATIKU ABUBAKAR criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and its Chairman, Professor JOASH AMUPITAN, for allowing themselves to be used to undermine democracy in Nigeria.

In his closing remarks, the ADC National Chairman, Senator DAVID MARK said of all the national conventions he had attended in the past, none was better organized like the ADC convention held yesterday in Abuja.
