ATIKU KNOCKS TINUBU OVER RIVERS EMERGENCY, SAYS IT'S SIGN OF DICTATORSHIP

Former vice president and chieftain of the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, ATIKU ABUBAKAR, says there is nothing to celebrate in the lifting of the six-month emergency rule in Rivers State.

Writing in a post on his social media handle, ATIKU ABUBAKAR maintained that President BOLA TINUBU acted in violation of the when he initially imposed a state of emergency in Rivers.

ABUBAKAR, who was the candidate of the PDP in the 2023 presidential election before recently defecting to the ADC, insisted that President TINUBU had no power to suspend a democratically elected governor and state lawmakers.

He further noted that the President’s intervention in Rivers State, which he described as a shenanigan, shows signs of dictatorship by the Tinubu administration.
