BLESSING CEO Remanded in EFCC Custody for N36m Fraud

The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has remanded controversial social media influencer, OKORO BLESSING NKIRUKA, better known as BLESSING CEO, for three weeks over an alleged Thirty-Six Million Naira fraud.

Justice DEINDE I. DIPEOLU ordered the remand of BLESSING CEO in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after she was arraigned on a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.

Lawyers from the EFCC’s Lagos Zonal Directorate One in Ikoyi alleged that the self-styled relationship therapist defrauded one IFEYINWA NONYE OKOYE under the false pretence of leasing a six-bedroom detached duplex in Lekki, Lagos State.

When the matter came up for hearing in court today, Friday, May 15, 2025, the defence lawyer, identified as P. I. NWAFOR, informed the court that his client had refunded Twenty-Four Million Naira out of the total of Thirty-Six Million Naira.

NWAFOR, therefore, requested for a short adjournment to resolve the outstanding balance, saying that the nominal complainant had agreed that if the balance is paid, the EFCC would be prevailed upon to drop the case.

However, the EFCC’s prosecution counsel, S.I. SULEIMAN, raised an objection to the request, saying that the prosecution was not privy to any discussion between the defendant and the nominal complainant.

SULEIMAN maintained that the complainant in the matter was the Federal Government of Nigeria, and urged the court to proceed with the arraignment and for the defendant take her plea.

Justice DIPEOLU agreed with the prosecution counsel for the defendant to take her plea, to which BLESSING CEO pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case was adjourned to June 5, 2026, for trial.
