Canceled Overseas March: Spanish League Missed Big Opportunity - La Liga President
The President of the Spanish League, JAVIER TEBAS, is not happy about the cancellation of the overseas La Liga match between Barcelona and Villarreal in the United States.
The Spanish football federation had in August approved plans to move the Villarreal versus Barcelona fixture to Miami's Hard Rock Stadium on December 20.
However, the decision was reversed on Tuesday after the move sparked a backlash, with top-flight players refusing to move for the first fifteen seconds of La Liga matches last weekend in protest.
The League President said the cancellation is a blow for the competition, saying that Spanish football lost an opportunity to advance, project itself globally, and strengthen its future.
