Commission Chairman Forced to Resign Over Employment Racketeering in Cross River State
The Chairman of the Cross River State Local Government Service Commission, DARLINGTON BASSEY EYO, has been forced to resign under pressure from an employment racketeering scandal in the commission.
The State Governor, Senator BASSEY EDET OTU, personally confirmed receiving EYO’s resignation letter, after he was indicted for gross misconduct and employment racketeering.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Governor OTU also said he had “ordered the immediate suspension of the compromised recruitment process, pending a transparent and merit-driven review.”
The Governor further noted that a special committee would be set up to investigate the matter, identify those responsible, and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.
He declared that “this administration will not tolerate corruption or any act capable of undermining public trust. No individual, no matter their position, will be allowed to stain the integrity of our government.”
