CRS Governor Hosts 4 Predecessors at Symbolic Lighting of Iconic '2025 Carnival Calabar & Festival Christmas Tree'

The long-standing Christmas tradition in Cross Rivers continues this year, with promises of colours and festivities, as four past civilian governors of the state joined Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu at the "2025 Carnival Calabar & Festival Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony" held in Calabar.

These include Dr Clement Ebri (January 1992 - November 17, 1993), Mr Donald Duke (May 1999 - May 2007), Mr Liyel Imoke (May 2007 - May 2015), Prof Ben Ayade (May 2015 - May 2023, who joined Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu at the event.

Mr Liyel Imoke, writing on his Facebook page, said "it was a pleasure to join the good people of Cross River State at the Carnival Calabar & Festival Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony."

"I am deeply grateful for the honour extended by His Excellency, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and for the opportunity to celebrate a tradition that brings our communities together in joy, culture, and pride.

"May this season strengthen our bond as a people and illuminate the path toward a brighter future for our state.
