FACEBOOK WHISTLEBLOWER BARRED FROM RELEASING NEW BOOK CRITICISNG ZUCKERBERG, OTHERS

An emergency arbitrator has barred a former Facebook executive from promoting a newly published book that does not reflect well on top officials of the company now known as Meta.

The author of the book, Sarah Wynn-Williams, was fired from her position as a global policy director for Facebook in 2017.

Wynn-Willaim made scathing comments about chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, former chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg and the company.

The arbitrator, Nicholas Gowen, issued his order a day after Wynn-Williams failed to appear at an emergency hearing on Tuesday. The author was given until Thursday morning to file a written objection to Meta’s arguments.

The arbitrator found that Wynn-Williams probably violated a non-disparagement agreement with her former employer when she released “Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism” this week.

US-based Washington Ports reports that the tell-all memoir, which is already a top seller on Amazon, provides a critical insider’s look into the social media company.

The author is also said to have accused Zuckerberg of misleading investors and American regulators about the company’s attempts to cooperate with Chinese government censors.
