FCT Minister Knocks Peter Obi Over Comments on Dilapidated Condition of Abuja School
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, NYESOM WIKE, has criticised opposition leader and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, PETER OBI, over his comments on the dilapidate condition of public schools in Abuja.
This comes after PETER OBI’s recent visit to LEA Primary School in Kapwa, Abuja, during which he criticized the FCT Administration for the poor state of public schools in Abuja.
OBI described condition of the school as a national disgrace and a reflection of Nigeria’s weak commitment to education. He also made a personal donation of Two Million Naira to support the construction of proper toilet facilities and to improve the overall learning environment at the school.
However, one week after OBI’s visit, the FCT Minister, NYESOM WIKE, criticized the former governor of Anambra State over his gesture and comments, and accused him of playing to the gallery ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Mr Peter Obi, we just came into office two years ago. We haven’t even spent four years. But you — you were governor for eight years. If I were you, I’d keep quiet. Enough is enough,” WIKE said during the inauguration of newly constructed roads in Abuja.
As if to mock PETER OBI, NYESOM WIKE said “You can’t become president of Nigeria just by going to IDP camps for birthday celebrations. Who is interested in that? Doing your birthday in an IDP camp doesn’t mean you love Nigeria or that you’re committed to change.
WIKE challenged PETER OBI on his records as governor of Anambra State, demanding to know why he did not celebrate birthdays in IDP camps. “Now that you want to be president, every birthday is with the less privileged. Who are you trying to deceive?”
