FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025: Flamingos Battle-Ready for France

Nigeria’s Under-17 girls will be fighting for survival against the French side in the second Group D game of the FIFA Under-Seventeen World Cup.

By 8pm today, Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Football Academy Mohammed VI (Pitch 1), in Rabat, the Flamingos will not just be playing France, they will be playing for belief, redemption, and survival.

The French side kicked off their campaign with a 4–2 win over Samoa, while the Nigerian girls suffered a painful 4–1 defeat in the hands of Canada in their opening fixture.

The Nigerian girls go into the match at the bottom of the Group table, with zero point and minus three goal difference, meaning defeat could end their World Cup journey.

The second fixture is more than just a group match, as there is history and something at stake for the Flamingos.

The last time Nigeria met France at the Under-17 tournament was thirteen years ago, in Azerbaijan, where both sides played out a tense 0–0 draw in regulation time before France edged Nigeria 5–3 on penalties to advance from the quarter-finals. That memory lingers, and for many, it feels like unfinished business.
