Fmr SGF BABACHIR LAWAL Joins NDC, Inauguration of Presidential Campaign Council Set for October

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, DAVID BABACHIR LAWAL, has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

The move comes three months after BABACHIR LAWAL left the African Democratic Congress, ADC, following a disagreement with former Vice President and presidential of the party, ATIKU ABUBAKAR.

NDC’s National Secretary, IKENNA MORGAN ENEKWEIZU, disclosed in an interview that BABACHIR LAWAL was received by party leaders during a ceremony in Abuja.

Speaking further, NDC scribe confirmed ongoing efforts towards the inauguration of the party’s presidential campaign council in the month of October, three months to the 2027 general elections.

IKENNA ENEKWEIZU said the delay in the composition of the NDC campaign council had been partly due to the frequent overseas travels of the party’s leaders, including the presidential candidate, PETER OBI.

On the pressure from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Anambra State government for PETER OBI to withdraw from the 2027 presidential election, the NDC scribe said such calls are baseless.

IKENNA ENEKWEIZU, who hails from Anambra State, maintained that PETER OBI remains the best governor the state ever had, adding that Governor CHUKWUMA SOLUDU’S smear campaign against him is being driven by jealousy.
